Appointments
Please note, Healthwise IM will be closed over the Christmas and New Year period, from Wednesday, December 23 to Thursday, January 7.
Patients are seen by appointment only.
Consultations are available from 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and 8.30am to 12.00pm Friday.
Integrative medicine requires longer than usual medical consultations, so it is advised that follow up appointments are made in advance. It is common for Dr Nugent to be booked up to 6 weeks or more ahead.
It is recommended that you also have a local GP who can provide you with acute care or manage general medical problems. We do keep a waiting list of people needing urgent appointments and if there is a cancellation, we fill the vacancy from this waiting list.
Booking your appointment
For current patients, please phone us directly on 8332 2901 to make an appointment.
For new patients please complete the online New Patient Appointment Request Form first and we will then contact you to make a time.
What to bring to your first appointment
If possible, it is useful to bring the following to your first consultation:
A brief outline of your medical history
The results of any investigations or specialist consultations relevant to your current health problem
A list of any medications (and dosages) and nutritional supplements you are taking (For these, ideally bring the bottles with you so we can check the actual amounts of the various nutrients in the supplements you are taking)
If you have been very ill, it may be helpful to bring your partner or primary care-giver to your appointment so that they understand the program being developed for you and the rationale behind it
Contacting the doctor
At times you may need to contact Dr Nugent to clarify an important issue that cannot wait until your next review.
Please call reception on 8332 2901 whereby a message will be taken and passed on. Depending on the medical priority of your issue, and unless they are on leave, you should expect to hear back from your doctor within 24-48 hours.
For non-urgent issues, Dr Nugent has allocated time once a week to attend to these messages.
Patient Recall / Results Policy
It is the responsibility of the patient to book a follow up appointment to discuss test results.
Due to the personal and detailed nature of results, they will usually not be advised over the phone, unless it is part of a telephone consultation (see below) or your practitioner has advised you otherwise.
Telephone consultations
If you live in a rural area, interstate, or you have mobility issues, you are welcome to request a telephone consultation. This will be booked into a normal consultation time (link to fees). There is no Medicare rebate for a telephone consultation.
Transfer of Medical Notes/Record to another Health Professional
The fee for the transfer of medical notes ranges from $20.00 to $35.00 depending on the size of the file.
Patient Contact Details
It is the patient’s responsibility to ensure that their contact details are current not only with us but also with Medicare.
To make an appointment or to cancel an appointment, please phone us directly on 8332 2901. If you are a new patient wanting to make an appointment, please complete a New Patient Appointment Request Form first and we will contact you.
